Past Concerts

On Saturday 21st April 2012  the choir gave their audience an evening of choral splendour at Clifton Cathedral.

We performed Mozart's Requiem, along with Joseph Haydn's Te Deum, How lovely is thy dwelling place by Johannes Brahms, and Ave Verum, also by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The choir's Musical Director, Rebecca Holdeman, conducted, while the chamber orchestra was lead by Tony Best and Claire Alsop provided wonderful organ accompaniment.

Our four talented soloists were Ros Evans - Soprano, Kate Woolveridge - Alto,  Peter Wilman - Tenor and Dyfed Wynn Evans - Bass.

The Bristol Cabot Choir celebrated Christmas in great style with a concert on

Monday December 19th Dec 2011 at Bristol Cathedral, College Green.

Conducted by its new Musical Director, Rebecca Holdeman, and with soprano soloist Shoshana Pavett, the choir performed pieces by Parry (I was glad), Handel (Glory to God), Berlioz (The Shepherds’ Farewell) and Whitacre (Sleep), in addition to a mixture of carols both old and new, including some for audience participation!

The choir was accompanied by Claire Alsop (Organ) and by the renowned Easton Band of the Salvation Army (conducted by Nathan Cole).

Proceeds from the concert were donated to Alive!, our charity of the year.

After eight very successful years as Musical Director of Bristol Cabot Choir, Ben England has movied on. The choir celebrated Ben's Directorship with a concert on

Saturday 2nd July 2011, at Newman Hall, Westbury-on-Trym.

The hall was packed, with the audience responding enthusiastically to a strong and varied programme ranging from The Beatles’ Can’t Buy me Love to Handel’s Zadok the Priest. We performed works by composers including Bach, Lauridsen, Fauré, DeCou, and Glass. There were also a number of small group and solo performances, including some memorable comedy items. The performance was followed by a presentation to Ben, and a buffet and party.

The choir held a Come & Sing Bizet’s Carmen event on Saturday 25th June  2011, at Newman Hall, Westbury-on-Trym.

Under the leadership of the choir’s Musical Director, Ben England, the choir and guests spent the day rehearsing songs from Bizet's fiery and tempestuous opera about love, death and bull-fighting. Family and friends were invited to watch a fun and spirited performance at the end of the day.

Bristol Cabot Choir’s Come & Sing events are thoroughly enjoyable experiences. We welcome you to the event with coffee and tea, rehearse, and then have a BYO lunch, followed by more rehearsals. The choir provide refreshments, including lovely homemade cakes, to keep up energy levels. At the end of the day, friends and family can join us to watch a performance of what we have been learning during the day. Our Come & Sing events provide a great opportunity to try out singing with our friendly choir.
